Mr. Leeds’s career in the media industry spans 35 years. He has served on both the creative and the business side of this industry. As an investment banker or senior executive, he has either led or participated in approximately 75 completed media transactions in various aspects of the industry exceeding $1 billion in value. From 1989-1996, Mr. Leeds was a Managing Director at Veronis, Suhler & Associates, Inc. (“Veronis Suhler” a/k/a Veronis Suhler Stevenson), the premier merchant bank and private equity firm serving the communications, media, publishing and broadcasting industries. At Veronis Suhler, Mr. Leeds either led or participated in approximately 65 completed transactions ranging in value from a few million dollars to over $600 million, with Mr. Leeds serving as the lead banker on the majority of those transactions. Most recently he has served as a senior executive and member of the Board of Directors of public companies in the entertainment media industry, including Network Event Theater (NASDAQ - NETS a/k/a YouthStream Media Networks) and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ-TTWO), publisher of the “Grand Theft Auto” video game franchise.
Mr. Leeds also represented Bungie in its negotiations with Microsoft Game Studios, which resulted in its recent spin-out, making Bungie once again a privately held, independent studio. Bungie is best known for creating the phenomenally successful "Halo" video game franchise, which it continues to develop for Microsoft. The critically acclaimed "Halo 3”, released on Tuesday, Sept. 25th 2007, is the fastest-selling video game ever, achieving $300 million in global sales its first week, making it one of the most successful entertainment properties in history.
